Default 2002 Axle

I was look at the service records for my car and at 5000 miles the axle was replaced. Car fax said it was never wrecked, why would the axle be replaced?

Car fax isn't perfect, but most likely it had a defect and it was cheaper for GM to replace it than fix it.

My car had the rear axle, whole rear 1/4 panel and wheel replaced at a Chevy dealership in Arizona before I owned it and it came up a clean title on car fax. Someone could've wanted to keep it off insurance radar to keep premiums down, yours could be the same way.

He is thinking it was changed from a wreck that wasn't in car fax like it should be, but they use insurance mostly. So, we could go hit a wall and pay cash to fix the rear quarter, axle, paint, and a bunch of other stuff from a solid wreck and it will not show up in a car fax report.

As long as you don't report it to insurance you are correct sir.

So for all practical purposes our insurance company is sharing our information with a company we would prefer they didn't huh?

If it's a 6-speed the owner might have shredded it.
