Default Anyone running a Powertrax diff?

I'm about to order a 9" rear and wanted to know if anyone has experience running the Powertrax diff. I'm less than 450 rwhp for now, but would like something that can put up with 500 rwhp and can handle decent launches with an RXT and a sticky tire. The S-Trac is about $500 more, but will go straight to it if the Powertrax reviews are poor.

Thanks in advance!

With 4.10's no less!

I'm going to get a MWC or M9. Haven't decided yet.

You should consider DTS as well. They are in Warren, and they are a top dog for rear ends too. In fact if I buy new I'm going through them

I'm not totally sure yet, but if I buy new it will likely be a DTS 12 bolt. They make a badass 12 bolt, installed and a 6 year warranty for just over 3k. I know everyone says stay away from a 12 bolt if you have a manual, but they assured me it's plenty for my particular setup. Plus l like the fact that their shop is only an hour from me

Most people run the strac for 2 reasons,

1)limited lifetime warranty
2)little to no failures reported

I swung the extra money to get the strac in my mwc fab9. Just for piece of mind.

For the record, the mwc fab 9 fits like it was meant to be the oem piece for these cars. Really a great piece.

I appreciate the feedback. I guess when you really think about it, $500 is a relatively small amount to pay for those two things.

Im running a 31 spline powtertrax posi in my 9 inch. So far I have had no issues with beating it on the street. Its smooth and quiet and always leaves "posi" evidence when asked. I will see how it holds up when I get it to the track.

I was also considering the powertrax unit in order to save some $$. I spoke to Jason at MWC last Monday and he said most of the guys they sold the powertrax units too did more roll racing than drag racing. After a more detailed discussion, I decided the $425 was worth it for the added piece of mind. Basically, I want to do it once and do it right.

From what I understood, they had never gotten any of the powertrax units back. He did say they did not have the warranty that the S Trac did so they may have not been contacted if one failed.

My $0.02:

Burkhartchassis fabbed 9â€. Get the wave trac diff. It has a lifetime warranty. Around $800. You can have the gears lightened. If you go to 41 spline, you can have the axles rifle drilled. Aluminum center will save weight but add $1200 to the price. Do 4.30 gears to help make up for losses due to the lower pinion position.

I installed one for a buddy in an 8.5 10 bolt. He loved it.

We have sold quite a few of the powertrax without failure in cars making 500 horse power or more obviously S-trac is a better posi unit but also comes with a hefty price tag.
