Got 3.73's and HATE THEM
Everyone said gears were going to be great, NOT FOR ME! Sorry just got the car home and needed to vent...
3.73's
And i dont know why everyone thinks gears make the car feel faster, it sure doesn't feel any faster to me. In the rain, from 25mph i go wot and the tires didnt even try to spin, and i have stock GSC's !! WHAT THE #@!@
The shop is 2 hrs away. Of course i guess i need to see about getting the gears re-set anyways. Thanks for the input guys.

I'll make you feel better. I went through 6, (yes 6!) installs before getting my 4.10s set. And I paid for each install
The installers blamed the gears, the factory blamed the installers. I got fucked in the middle. It almost cost me a marriage!!
BTW, you may be screwed....if those gears are howling that loud, you may have already worn into them. The only solution:
Yup. NEW set of gears. Sorry and good luck!

I keep drag radials on my car for the street and love them. However, they do wear out fast so if you put on serious miles, they would get expensive. I don't recommend them in the winter as the compound gets hard and they don't stand a chance in snow.
3.73's are the best gears to get, and I bet I can say for a lot of people when I say that I've never heard anyone complain about gears but you. The installation was probably bad and did you forget to add GM Additive to get rid of the noise? I've done gears on my car 4 times and not once did they **** up..I just broke'em...
anyways, learn how to do it...it's as SIMPLE as CHANGING YOUR OIL (not really)...except you gotta get dirty and take your time...Steps:
1: Lift the Car
2: Take off the Differential plate and drain the fluid into a bucket or whatever
3: Take the rear wheels off
4: Take the rear Calipers off
5: Take out the sensors behind the rotors
6: Put the car in neutral
7: Spin the Carrier till you see a screw sticking from one side to the other.
8: Unbolt the support bearings (holding brackets) They look like this '[' ']'
9: Take out the screw that you turned the carrier to see.
10: take out the piece that the screw held in.
11: push in your axles to make the C clips fall
12: pull out both axles
13: Get a bar and pry out the carrier (it's tough)
14: Disconnect the driveshaft. (You have to spin it till you see two bolts and put it in park and take out the two bolts that support the yoke right next to the pinion gear. There's two more on the opposite side. Put it in neutral. Spin the driveshaft till you see the other two bolts, and put it back in park, and take off the two bolts. Once disconnected, push the driveshaft towards the tranny and keep it out of the way.)
15: get a 32mm socket and take off the pinion nut. Use a wrench to hold the yoke from spinning since nothings holding it now.
16: Take out the pinion gear.
17: Inspect your gears, bearings, carrier, inside the housing, fluid.
18: Now install whatever gear you want...
Yes...it's that easy....
