2002 Trans Am Rear Axle Assembly Swap Help!
Okay, so I messed up my rear end, and was literally told to stop driving it because it could come apart at any moment.
So I bought a used rear end from Hawksthirdgen and I went with the 3.42 gear ratio.
My 2002 Trans Am is an automatic. I didn't really think about what else needed to be done changing the gear ratio. It is going to be a complete rear end, so if I get my mechanic to install it and remove the old one, what would need to be done after the swap?
Is there anything else I need to install or change?
My knowledge is limited on this, I just wanted to fix my car and upgrade the gears at the same time as I was going to be spending the same amount of money if I had picked the 3.23 gears or the 3.42.
Thanks.

Is your 02TA 3 channel ABS only OR 4 channel ABS & TC ?
Did you originally have 2.73s' to start with ? GU2 on the door jambs' option code sticker. GU5 is 3.23. 4 channel is NW9.
Used 3.23 rears from an Auto car are generally quieter than a used 3.42 rear from a manual M6 car. M6 rears are typically abused from the shock loads generated by a M6.
Changing ratio ONLY requires the computer to be reset for the different ratio to correct the speedometer and shift points.
