Default crying here.. 1970 Camaro with 8.2" rear

So, I ignored my rear end "thinking its ok" ... rookie mistake

I have a 1970 Camaro with 10 bolt 8.2" rear end. Its toast and I did it.

So, I am looking at my options and the local rear end shop says they can do a Moser 12bolt posi with 3.73 rear gear .. installed for $3200.

I don't want to pay that much as well, I am running low on funds. Even worse I have never rebuilt a rear-end before so am not confident I could do it correct my first try. What options are out there? are their other places I should look for better pricing or is $3200 a good price to have a new Moser rear end installed/complete and installed.

I am between Tampa and Orlando if anyone has something or a resource that can help.

Have you considered an 8.5" rear? They are nearly as strong as the 12-bolt, and should bolt up no problem as they were issued in later 2nd gen Camaros. Especially if you have an auto and aren't making a crazy amount of power, I would highly consider this option. I have one in my '71 and it's been great (355ci/TH350 combo).

I am good with a 8.5" 10 bolt if it can handle my power.

LQ4 w/ trick flow heads, Howards cam, LS6 intake, 36lb injectors, terra yella roller rockers etc... with a very stiff built up 4L60e tranny and 2500 stall converter.

What is a good price on a 10 bolt posi 3.73ratio running .. with install?

Not sure on install price, but we picked up a G-body 8.5" with a 3.42 and a good working LSD for a friend's Cutlass not too long ago for $800 - ready to bolt in and go. It's a 455ci/TH350 car, cam/carb/intake upgrades, '70 heads, headers, etc. Makes decent power and the 8.5" has been doing just fine for several years now. Not sure if the 2nd gen F-body-ready versions are any cheaper or more expensive though. The one for my X-body (with leaf spring setup) came with the car when I bought it.

What did you break inside it?
You can find a gen 2 camaro 8.5 pretty cheap for your car. I’m sure under 500 and it should bolt right up.
Reason I ask on the 8.2 is my 69 has an 8.2 and with a big block we never broke it.
I know they aren’t strong but I’d like to see what went wrong in yours.
