rear gear in Impala Wagon with T56
Getting ready to order gears for my swap.
Car will be for road trips and some light towing (small camper possibly). and before anyone says it, it is not as heavy as it looks with only tipping the scales at just over 4000lbs. so only a few hundred lbs over the 4th or 5th gen camaro weight.
drivetrain will be 10.5:1 LQ4 with a mildish cam, T56 on a 26" tall tire. I come from the truck world, and the t56 1st gear is still higher in ratio than most truck's 2nd gear i deal with. Don't want to be a pig off the line with too high of a ratio, but don't want to be screaming on the highway either.
I have looked at a few Online calcs to see what my highway RPM would be but not sure on anything just yet. Leaning towards 3.90s, which would put me cruising at 75 MPH at around 1900RPM in 6th gear.
Like i said, i am used to 4wd, trucks so usually on them lower is better as we always ran bigger tires.
3.73's be better? i think 4.10 would be too low.
