Is 3.50 a good choice
Doing a 5.3 with 4l60e in a 51 Chevy Deluxe. Running a 26.5 inch tall tire. Ford 9 inch rear end. Is 3.50 a good gear choice? Should put highway RPM at slightly under 2200 rpm. This is going to be a driver. Any recommendations on convertor?

I would do a pretty tight 3200 and a 3.73 if it was me. It will cruise nice on the hwy in lockup. 2400rpm probably at 70mph is nothing for these engines.

Unless he’s after the very last .10 of a second for drag racing, I think a 3.50 gear would be a better choice. Then later on down the line when he goes to a turbo (well everyone else is doing it lol) he will still be good. When I was naturally aspirated, I never even felt like I needed to change out my 3.46 stock gears in my car with the same tire height as he had. Almost a 4000lb car that would have dipped into the 11’s if if would have been a little better weather. In my opinion, the gears I have are great for a driver. I actually wish I had 3.23’s or something close to that now that it’s turboed.

Spot on dickity boo, 100% way to go with a 4L60E, I also agree with the 3200 to 3600 stall. Sara (2001 Z28) runs @ 2000 rpm @ 60mph with this setup.
