Whats the "DIFF"erence?
The Auburn LSD is different from the Torsen style that would have been standard for your model year. Both are limited slip differentials, but the Auburn is a cone/clutch style while the Torsen doesn't use a traditional clutch pack or cone setup.
FWIW, the Auburn style was the standard LSD offered in 4th gens prior to 1999, in that model year GM switched to the Torsen style. My '98 came stock with the Auburn, and I agree with the fact that it's always been super quiet compared to the Torsens in my '99-'02 cars (all of my Torsens have chattered under the same sort of conditions, even when the cars were brand new). I've never owned an F-body with the SLP upgrade Auburn LSD, so I'm not sure how this version might differ from the base Auburn rears of 1998 and prior (though my guess is that it's probably a higher bias version, and/or contains other enhancements).
