Question something broke...need some help please

while I was driving my z28 going into work this morning I applied like 75-80% throttle from a 5mph roll and I heard a thump sound in the rear of the car. whenever I applied throttle pedal I would hear a whirring sound on the drivers side rear, if I let off the gas it goes away. when im at a stop and let go of the brakes to move forward it feels like the brakes are sticking and i'd need to apply a bit more gas to move forward. lastly when I got into work and checked the back of the car there appears to be a rattling sound similar to marbles in a can. I cant make the exact area but its around the rearend. my guess is the rear's going out eventually? when I made a left hand turn I did not hear or feel any clunking fwiw. is it worth driving home afterwards the 15 miles or better to get a tow truck? either way, when it eventually gets parked in the garage im going to drop the cover and inspect any damages.

Update, dropped the pan. I don't think the rears gone but rather an axle bearing? There's a tiny bit of play on both sides of the wheel rocking it 6 and 12 but very tiny. Heres a few pics of the magnet

Driver side axle. Running my finger nail across that grove back and forth it catches.

I work on our little 10 bolts. The magnet is very clean, the cover looks good, the ring gear has what appears to be a good wear pattern, the axle bearing surface is not good but I've seen MUCH worse and driven in that much worse condition. More importantly, how are the needle bearings in the cage for that axle. A deteriorated bearing will cause that. I've seen axles with that wear re-installed with new bearings and last a long time. DO NOT USE 'AXLE SAVER' bearing assemblies.
Your 'posi' is a Torsen and sometimes they get noisy.

The bearing spun freely and i didnt notice any seized ones spinning it around which is odd. I rented an axle puller and maybe cause i didnt remove the seal first, but the bearing exploded when i was trying to pop it out. Managed to remove it though.
edit: pics before removing the bearing and seal

Being that your picture in post #2 of the posi/ring gear doesn't show a carrier mounted reluctor ring (for 3 channel ABS), you would have a 4 channel system with reluctor rings pressed on the axles behind the wheel flange. 4 channel replacement axles do not come with those rings.

correct its a torsen diff with the 4 channel system. I did use a 3 channel axle a while back that worked even though it didn't have the reluctor wheel rings pressed on it. I only lost traction control/abs but that's nothing new to me. thanks for your response Firstyrls1z. so for the time being, im scouting for a used axle shaft on here and on social media as well as new seal and bearing.
