9 inch drive shaft I want to get the quick performance 9 inch rear for my 00 z28. My question is I thought I read a while ago I'll need a 1 inch shorter drive shaft. Is that accurate? If so can I get a yoke for the center section that will negate that? I've been budget building this car for 10 years now, it's 600 horse light boost and have already been through 4 rear ends. I won't be able to buy a drive shaft this year. Thanks for the advice and help. I eventually want to get a nice torque arm and drive shaft but I street drive my car it will never see a track so I'm not launching it at 6 grand off the clutch. It is a 6 speed if that matters
You need to measure after install and get the correct length DS. Too long and it will bottom out and cause transmission damage or even engine damage, too short and it could fall out or give terrible angles for the u joint and harsh vibrations. You can install and then find a shop to shorten your shaft, I've shortened my own on low HP builds just to get them mobile again. Once you install follow the directions all over the net on how to measure then watch for one to come up for sale from a part out or something with the right center to center measurements you need.

The only way to ensure you have the proper length driveshaft is to measure. Check with Midwest Chasis, they have easy instructions on how to properly measure and great pricing.
Note- I went with a pre measured shaft in the past, and it resulted in me tracking down a vibration because the shaft was about an inch too short. Since measuring and ordering a new shaft I have had zero problems.
