Difference between s-trac, trutrac- wavetrac..ect

Default Difference between s-trac, trutrac- wavetrac..ect

Looking to get some clarity on the different styles of differentials. Looking to build a 9" rear end for a mostly street driven build, might auto cross 1-2 times, may make a 1/4 run for fun, that's it. 1969 Camaro LSX 6.0, t-56 Mag, ect.... I am looking for a differential that can handle hard on the street. I've done fair amount of research to understand the basics differences in locker/ limited slip application and I'm not interested in a locker. Just kind of looking for some insight on what is or is not worth it based on what i am looking to use it for. s-trac seems to be the most expensive option and Detroit Truetrac more or a value option. HP wise, currently probably 500-550 , may have future plans to see between 650-700 MAX! So not sure if 35 spline is necessary or is 31 is under splined.... Any bit of insight would help thanks!

The Trutrac and Wavetrac we dropped a few years back because of to many failures and only offer the S-Trac and Powertrax at this point. The S-Trac we suggest for higher HP applications and the Powertrax for lower HP applications. Granted these have been torque arm applications but after years of use and seeing results the S-Trac is the one and done differential.

U know what they say, once u go s trac u dont go back.......enjoy my strac a lot

for 9 inch at least.....arguable in s60

ive had my 4th gen with a mwc fab 9 with the s trac for 6 yrs and like 8k miles its great . very happy with its operation.

Know its a lil late, but my s60 with the strac from strange is absolutely amazing. Cornering, launching, street manners etc. I have almost 1200 miles on it, zero issues.

Thanks for that info! I've got an S60 in my Firebird with a spool presently, and previously I had what I'm guessing was a Dana brand limited slip that I don't wish to reinstall, but I'd like to get rid of the spool.

Yes, similar, in that it's a gear driven limited slip. No clutches, spider gears, or weak cross pin to break.
