I agree with 02WS6Bird. 4.10's for an M6, and 3.73's + stall for an A4.

I can't comment on top speed with the A4 (always had manual trannies) but if you have an M6, you should be able to hit the 6200 rpm rev limiter at around 155mph in 5th with 4.10's, even if your engine is stock.

No tuning necessary. Are you refering to speedo calibration?

I went with 3.42. I dig'em. They're awesome on the highway and good for my 255 street tires since I dont go to the track. I'm still curious about 3.73, but I was almost certain I would need different tires with that.

you tune the gears for better acceleration and/or top end...more efficient it seems most people tune it....if a Torque converter causes an A4 to have a tune and most people tune after gears i think it would be recommended

you can tune the part-throttle shift points of the tranny with LS1Edit, but cannot literally tune the gears.

since you have a M6 get 4.10's

Ditto.

Unless you are getting a different rear go with the 73s in a stock 10 bolt. The pinion for the 73 is bigger than the 4.10s so theres less chance of breakage. You have to try to give it every chance you can.

M6 with a stock 10 bolt can withstand 410's believe it or not...my buddy has some internal work and some power tro the ground suspension wiht the stock 10 bolt...but has the T/A girdle....it helps i guess since he dumps at about 4000 if im not mistaken

i have 3.73 in my m6, at driving MPH its always lugging in a higher gear or to reving to high in a lower gear. like at 25-30 3rd gears to high and 2nd to low, i have a freind with a M6 with 4.56 gears, he likes, but 4.10 would be perfect for drivability and performance.

3.73 or 4.10 I am looking for the same thing .4.10 would put you at 2,200 RPM IN 6 GEAR at 70 mph. 3.42 is 1500 RPM IN 6 GEARR at 70 Mph. witch is better for gas mileage? In 6 gear 70 MPH is 2200 RPM its like not having 6 gear. any input?
