Default extreme chassis 8.8" installed

So I got my extreme chassis 8.8” installed last weekend. I had some help from a guy who works on f-bodies so it was a lot easier for me than it would have been without his help. So everything went smoothly. The only hang up that I had was that my aftermarket torque arm was hitting the tunnel. We fixed that by taking a hammer to it. No big deal. So the test drive was good. It’s really nice having 3:73 gears. The car has more pull and all. It was such a relief to finally have the rear I waited 18 weeks for in. So now all I need to do is to get Craig to send my reluctor and bracket to me so I can get my abs back. I have pictures of the rear, and if someone can host them for me that would be great. PM me. Oh, and I didn’t have to modify the rear at all. No grinding or custom fabricating things. Great product, pooooooooooooor customer service and business practice.

Great to hear everything worked out for u.... Im going to try to install the rear end tomorrow or Thursday by the latest. I cant wait to drive my car after 12 weeks of waiting too. The rear end looks good exactly like yours, but i wish craig had better customer service as u said.

The rearson your TQ arm was hitting the tunnel is because you need an ADJ Panhard rod to adjust it over. Measure how far your left tire sticks out from the bumper opposed to the right. I am willing to be money one side sticks out further than the other.

An Adj. panhard will fix this and wont require any hammering of the tunnel

you mean weld the tubes to the pumkin? i mean, he didnt take the entire axle tubing from the 10 bolt and stick it into the 8.8 center section. he did like 1/2 and 1/2. took 1/2 the 10 bolt axle tube and 1/2 the 8.8 axel tube and welded them together in the middle. i have a shot of that if you want me to post it up.

thats the yoke that comes on the 8.8's. he sent me the part that you get the u-joint pressed into. then all you do is bolt it up to the yoke. pretty straight forward.

yes. thats like one of the first things mustang guys do to the 8.8 rear end.

stupid question...whats the advantage of doing the 8.8 vs a 12 bolt...is it just price? or is it more efficient? I like it...im used to dealing with an 8.8

well, what ever you do dont order an extreme chassis 8.8". infact i dont think hes going to make them anymore. but from what i know, theyre a little cheeper, lighter, less drive train loss (more rwhp) and probably as strong as a 12 bolt.

Can you snap a photo of the yoke part, I want to see it. I'm planning on building an 8.8 this winter, so I am doing the research now.

slow3hoe2, the biggest advantage over the 12 bolt is weight and efficiency. That's why I made my decision. Cheapness also helps. I think I can probably build one for around $1k. $300 for new axles, $300 for diff, ebay for gears, cover. I'll do the fab myself or have some friends help. Should be a fun winter project !
