Default Pulling axle

Hey ive gotta change the wheel bearing on the passenger back side of a 98 v6 camaro.
Any special tricks to getting at the bearings?

You have to remove the C-clips to pull the axle. Remove the rearend cover. There will be a solid pin in the middle of the carrier that is held in place by a set screw. Remove this pin, push the axle in and remove the C-clip. A magnet is helpful to remove the C-clip. Once the C-clip is removed the axle slides out. You will need a slide hammer to remove the bearing.

FYI, if you have 4-channel ABS (traction control car), you will want to remove the abs sensor at the wheel. If not, the axle won't slide in far enough for the c-clip to fall out.

Hey Does anybody know what size the lock bolt for the pin on the carrier is? What is the best way to loosen this? I am on the ground underneath the car, and it is kinda hard to get at.

Also the chiltons book that i have says somthing about a saftey kit to put on non traction control cars for the speed sensor reluctor wheel? Do you have to use this?

You can rent a slide hammer from Autozone.

I think the bolt for the pin is either 8mm or 10mm. I just used a boxed end wrench.

well i dont have room to get a boxed end wrench to move once i slip it on the nut. The nut is surrounded by the carrier itself somewhat. If i try to move the wrench down the part right next to the bolt on the wrench hits the carrier and i can go no further. This is on a v6 is there any difference in the rear?
