Broke my Moser Went to the track first time with n2o. 1.6 sixty ft. and 11.1@124 I think i broke the spider gears, taking it apart this weekend. The rear hasnt been in that long.it whines REALLY loud and clunks when i slow down or turn.Is this common,and what spool will fit w/o cutting of axles?
You can swap any spool in with no mods to the axles. Some go and some blow, my original 33 spline eaton 12 bolt took tons of abuse and is still going in the guys car I sold it to (both full weight mid 11 second cars with tons of passes on ET streets) so you never know. The weak link in the posi is the spider gears.

Took it apart yesterday and its not the posi its the pinion gear.The pattern and backlash was off. Mabe set up wrong from moser cause it only has 4k on it, but ordered new 4.11s and a strange spool hope it don't break

Yes i had this same problem happen to my daewoo leganza after i put in street racing octane boost from Pep Boys. I didnt know it was going to mess my rear up. Try tuning your NOS timer next time if your fuel line has a nasty hole in it.

Anyway, my Dad always has said that the rear end was always his weak link. He never tore up a trans, engine, or driveshaft while drag racing, but he sure went through his share of rear ends. I witnessed a lot of this carnage first hand as a little boy. The last being a spool that bit the dust.
My moser has howled and clunked since I've installed it. I ran a 1.52 60ft on it this past weekend at the southern shootout and then drove it to work all this week... it is so loud now that I am actually wearing ear plugs when I drive to work and back (I'm not playing). I've bought another set of gears and an install kit, I hope when I have it all installed in the next week or so that it will stop the noise.
