Default Zexel-Torsen problem

I was at E-Town 2 weeks ago and my Father said that while I was doing my burnout that sometimes only one wheel was turning. The rearend is the stock 10 bolt with 2.73's and the factory Zexel-Torsen differential. It is to my understanding that the Zexel has no clutches, but a series of gears that transfer power. Can anyone shed some light onto why or how this is happening? The car has 38 mid 12 second runs on it, obviously I'm pushing it, but I don't plan on adding any more power in the forseeable future. Is it worth it to repair what may be going bad with some better parts? I don't have the money for a 12 bolt.

My car has also done it periodically...I run a rt. side airbag and feel that if preload is way off, only 1 will spin during burnout. Also, waterbox can affect it, if 1 whl got wet and other didn't. I, too, have less than 50 mid and low 12 sec. passes w/3.23's and 26-8.5x15 ET Drags. I have no traction problems leaving line w/Vig 3200, though, so I feel it's working (locking both whls) when I leave the line..... Anyone else comment on this? WJ

Anyone else have this happen while doing their burnout at the track prior to staging? Comments? WJ

It is normal, the stock Torsen has a low torque bias ratio
and if you jerk the right tire into spinning, and the sliding
friction is less than static friction / 2.5(ish) it will never
grab again. The static friction torque (effective) also
including the residual driveshaft torque reaction lift.

T-2R, baby... T-2R. Though it's not really meant to be a
drag diff, a 4:1 bias plus preload pretty much guarantees
you will spin them both (whether that's good, or not, is
up to the driver's discretion).
