Rear end fluid level 9"
Just picked up a used 9". I want to change the fluid before I put it in the car. I notice it doesn't have a fill hole like my 10 bolt TA cover did. So I assume I will just pop the gear side out and fill. My question is how much fluid and is that the way to do it? Should I pop the cover, drain it, reseal it, then fill through the breather tube?

There is a fluid fill plug on the driver's side next to the TQ arm mount. Open it up, put. If flluid comes out, you don't need to fill any more. If no fluid comes out, pump some fluid in there till it starts spilling out. Crude but effective.
As for changing the fluid, haven't had to do that. Search!
Edit: Driver's side.

Yeah that fill plug is in kind of an odd place. You will need to buy a pump when you get the fluid, there is no way to pour it in that hole.
While you have it off the car would be a great time to install a drain plug. I got a nice one from Pep Boys that included the bushing and a plug with a gasket. Having a drain plug is nice on a 9 inch, becasue without it, the oil dumps in your lap if you ever have to pull the center section. Plus you can change the fluid without pulling the center section.
