Default Rear end decision

Trying to decide what I should do for my rear end.

I bought a NIB Moser 9" from another LS1tech member, came with 35 spline axles. Also picked up a used Moser 35 spline detroit locker for dirt cheap. Now I've got to get a center for it. Found a place who will build a Strange center using the locker I have for about $825.

My car is going to be a daily driver with occasional street/strip racing. 315/35/17 rear wheels, M6, and I know I want 4.11 gears.

For now I've got a TR224/112lsa cam and ported/milled heads. Should make 425+ rwhp from what I've been told. Long term, I'll probably change to FI, but that's going to be several years away.

My questions are:

1. How much more parasitic loss is there on a 35 spline locker versus a 31 spline Posi? While I'm thinking the 35 spline with a locker will be better once I go FI, I'm wondering if I would be better off for now to use 31 spline instead, and possibly stick with Posi. How much of a difference am I really going to see?

2. Is the 35 spline going to whine any louder than a 31 spline?

3. Am I going to see much difference is streetability handling between a 35 and a 31 spline?

4. At my stated power level, is there really much difference in streetability between a locker and a posi? I've heard a lot of people love their lockers in a daily driver, while Moser told me it was a bad idea.

5. I have 11" tires on the back wheels, but the tread is down to about 10% left. What would be a good tire to replace these with? (I know - should be in the tire forum, but I figured I'd keep my questions in one place).

Thanks for any help!!

Adam

i went with 35 spline axles and i plan to run a locker. in my opinion the paralistic loss would be negligable between 31 and 35 splines. im more worried about durability when i drop the clutch at 5000rpm. it may eat a little more power but atleast you got peace of mind when you go forced induction. stay with what you got!!!

The only extra loss you would see would be from the extra rotating mass, which sholdnt add up to much at all. As far as extra noise, that would only have to do with the gear set and the set-up.
