9" posi shot to hell
AFTER ROUGHLY 1500 MILES!!!!
damn im pissed
auburn said they can replace it for $135, where they charge me up front for like 450 (cost of a new one), mail it to me and refund me all but 135 back when they recieve my old one. also if the find something wrong manufacture wise with the old one ill also get the 135 back. they better find something wrong for it to let go this soon
it had like 5 passes on it, then it started to pegleg on the next trip to the track and has done it ever since. it only locks up like 1/10th of the time i hit it. auburn said there was a test i could do to see if it was working where you jack up one wheel with the tranny in neutral and see how much torque it takes to spin the one tire. a good one should be between 120-140 ftlbs, i can kick my tire and it fuggen free spins
im fuggen pissed
And I DON'T want a spool.
I plan to do an experiment that might help this situation. I have a Two Step, which means I am at WOT as soon as the clutch is dumped. I have been blowing my Nittos off on just 2300-2500 rpm dumps, believe it or not.
Once I get my MT DR's (UPS LOST ONE TIRE, IDIOTS!
) I will try to launch...let's say around 3500 rpm (dump) and see if it either bogs or spins. Being that I am at WOT, I may not bog and get a good 60'. It's worth trying, maybe 2 weeks from now.If I pull this off, many posi's could be saved because I believe it's the 5000-6500 clutch dumps that are killing the units. By setting the Two Step to a pre-determined rpm and dumping at WOT, I may just find that sweet spot so we are not loading 6 grand on the entire drivetrain.
I recently fried the clutches in my posi in my Moser 9" after 2 years of ABUSE (6600rpm clutch dumps on slicks).
I didn't feel like going through the same thing again, so I put a spool in the car, it's a little annoying in parking lots, but otherwise fine
My 2-step came in today so i'll be ready soon to make 6600rpm launches off the 2-step

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
i was running the proper amount of additive, then it started happening and i changed the fluid and put in half of the normal amount of additive to see if it would stick better. no luck
'Hard to believe that Moroso hooked hard enough for you to break anything.
On a related note, I just got off the phone with Strange. The tech guy told me they feel the Eaton SS posi is good until 500rwhp and 1.5 60's (with an M6.)
That may be be optimistic, and I wish they would write a guarantee on that...

That place hooks hard
You spoolin' on the street (or about to?) Were you still on the Nittos then?

Went with another Posi, as my car will be seeing roadcourse track time in the near future. If roadcourse were not on the agenda, I'd a gotten a locker.
