Default ? about pinion seal

My rearend is leeking at the pinion seal. I was wondering if when I replace it if I can mike the crush sleeve and replace it with the solid spacer and the proper amount of shims? The rear is not making any noise so I beleave it's OK.

I'll bite, why make the crush sleeve? Arent they cheap enough already? Or are you looking at a means of a better design which I'll tip my hat and say goodluck.

Pulling the front pinion bearing is going to be a bitch probably to get the crush sleeve out without teardown.

I would just replace the seal and let it go..

If it ain't broke, don't mess with it! Replace your seal and leave it alone.
