Default 9" gear oil what weight?

Moser says 80W90 full synthetic, Strange says 80W140 dino oil for drag applications, synthetic for the street. Doesn't make any sense to me. I thought Moser used US Gear which is Strange. How about some input?

How did you determine that is the correct oil to use? I'd really like to use synthetic because of it's lubricity, slipperiness if you will. Strange says if you drag at all it has to be dino. Moser saying 80w90, won't cost as much hp but are you getting the necessary shock protection particularly with a M6?

How about 80-140 synthetic if you have a locker or spool and 80 140 dinosaur oil if you have a clutch type set up the ammount of power lost to the rear wheel shouldnt even be a factor unless your looking for 1 hp here and there..good luck finding 80-140 synthetic at your average auto parts store..

Don't laugh but I got some 75W140 full synthetic Super Tech a Walmart house brand for #7 a quart. I couldn't bring myself to pay $14-15 a quart for Amsoil. I could have got Royal Purple for $9.60 a quart but I looked at the specs and the viscosity, seriously , was like molasses. I found Mobil 1 $15 / quart and Valvoline #12/ quart.

just what ive always been told with a locker you dont need the synthetic
we have three cars that race extremly hard all m6's too with 9" mosers
2 of them are turbo cars also and havent had one issue .
just speaking from experince
we did have synthetic in one and the locker seemed a little louder actully could be an isolated case but with the dino oil it is quiter
