DTS 12 bolt rearend - Opinions/Experiences Please??
In spring along with my h/c package I am looking into a DTS (Drive Train Specialists) 12 bolt with 4.10s (33 spline, eaton posi, GM Gears, abs, tcs, Moser Axles, CNC Center Section, Timpken roller bearings).
Any of you with opinions and/or experiences with this rear?
Any gotchas?
How do they compare to Moser & Strange?
Thanks in advance.
Mike

I would suggest getting a c-clip eliminator setup and the HD posi (or a soft locker). Other than that looks fine! (can't comment on the DTS vendor specific issue; I have never done business with them.)

I run a DTS 12 bolt
33 spline axles
400# pre-load Eaton posi
3.42 gears
ABS setup
Timken bearings all around
bigger carrier bearings w/ billet caps
aluminum support cover
solid pinion spacer w/ billet 1350 yolk
it's a very nice piece. Gears were set up perfectly. No whine at all. and i've got some serious abuse into it. Checked the wear pattern at 300 miles and it was dead on.
The axle retention is 9" style press on bearings w/ the billet axle tube ends.
The only complaint i have is the leaks. small leaks from the axle ends. But i can deal w/ that.
It won't come cheap though. the goodies make the price go up quick.
I also run a 3" chromo driveshaft from them.
Being in WI, it'll save you the sales tax. That's what got me, but no shipping. So maybe it all evens out.

Chris & Harlan - thanks! It's appreciated. I will look into the upgrades!
Harlan,
How bad are your leaks?
Thanks,
Mike

Is DTS buying a Moser housing and building the unit or do they have someone casting the center section with a torque arm provision????? I though Moser, Strange and KTRE (12 bolt now owned by Mark Williams)were the only players making a center section for the fbod.
