Default Differences in LT1 vs LS1 axle shafts ?

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the differences are between an 4 ch LT1 axle shaft and a 4ch LS1 axle shaft ? Not the housing, but the shafts ? GM list two different part numbers, but I can't imagine what the differences would be ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

splines are the same.

I have seen a few LT1's that are a little bigger around.......LS1 wheels wouldn't fit on the axle. I don't know when they changed, I know the 97's had the same chrome 5star wheels as LS1 and they fit ok.

Anyone else?
