Question 2.59 to 3.42

Will the ring & pinion set out of an M6 LT1 Vette (dana 44) fit in an A4 vette carrier (dana 36). I would like to upgrade my 2.59s to 3.42s especially after seeing how the car "dies" when it hits 3rd gear down the track. If not does ANYONE know where I can get some decent dana 36 gears?

no, the gears out of a Dana 44 will not work in a Dana 36. Richmond makes a special gear that will allow you to use better gearing but i would advise against it. The dana 36 kinda sucks. If at all possible upgrade to a Dana 44. If that is not an option you can get the gears from Richmond but they are expensive gears and they are prone to shattering gear housings. I ran 3:75's in my vette and it destroyed the entire dana housing. I had to purchase a whole new one. Not cheap.

Thanks my friend. Yeah, I don't think I will have the money for a dana 44. I did not notice anything for C4 Vettes in my Summitt Catalog last time I looked. I hate the fact that my rearend is keeping my car in the high 12s
