12 bolt question?
and i want to do it right. Hopefully next year i will do heads and cam and maybe a little nitrous eventully. I want to keep my abs and i dont want it to break! lol Sp what spline axels, what gears (i was thinking 4.11) what brand and what upgrades you recomend? Thanks!!
the 4.11's are awesome, i havent really rhomped it hard yet, because i'm going for overkill on the break-in
but i can tell you this, my rear end used to have 3.08 gears (not my fault, in it when i bought it) and going from that to a 4.11 is radical. 2nd gear feels like 1st used to! its going to scream when i can get on it. the rear end itself is DEAD SILENT on the highway, only problem is, that at 70mph (speedo on like 85 lol) the rpm's are at about 2000 and the duals are abit loud. the old setup put 70mph right before when the duals got loud and it was quiet in the car. the moser unit uses larger housing tubes for the axles and all the welds on mine were TOP KNOTCH. i'm 99% sure they were done by a machine, but if it was a human, he is one with the welder

some people have noisy moser rears, maby mine will after a few hard launches on the 315 nittos, but i'll find that out soon enough. alot of guys get them, and if they whine, you buy a new ring/pinion and have it set-up nicley by a respectable shop. the money you save on buying a moser rather than a strange will cover most of the cost of this (if it is even needed). most people just live with the whine, because NO WHINE is the minority in high performance gear sets.
when you order a moser, you wait for it to come in, then you remove your stock backing plates and slide them over the axles, then slide on the bearings and press them into place. then slide them in the housing. all you really need is a press (i've heard napa will do it for you) to install it. plus you can pickup the part number 447 conversion u-joint while you're there to go from stock driveshaft to 1350 yolk

i'm not well informed about the tq capacity for the 12 bolt posi's, might want to do a little research. i have the 33 spline eaton HD in mine.a 12 bolt w/ a spool is another option, some people dont have a problem driving a spool on the street though.
and BTW - an update of my origional post, i've done quite a few rhomps, launches, full throttle runs, and my rear end is still dead silent. i'm running 85w-140 oil w/ 1 bottle of limited slip additive. i've got around 700 miles on it and i'm going to change the fluid probably sometime this week, should be alot easier with the TA cover
