Anyone know if LS1 edit is going to be like the HPP III's? By that I mean will you be able to use LS1 edit on multiple cars, or will it be limited to the VIN on the car the programming is done on like Hypertech?

Yes, it is going to be like HPP3 in that you can only use it on one car. LS1 Edit does have a "shop version" that is already in our favorite shops that can be used multiple times.

However, Ls1 Edit is much more usefull then HPP3.
My question is...How hard is it to use?

I know that MTI is currently working with the shop version of LS1 edit, but I think they paid more than 3k$ for it.

The learning curve is pretty large and yes you can destroy your motor. I have not seen ls1-edit in action, but I did have DFI on my LT1 car.

When you get complete control over changing the fuel and timing parameters that the car runs by it's a pretty serious thing. Plug the 'ol laptop in and dial the timing on up several degrees and then trim the fuel down some and go racing on the spray and you'll cause plenty of damage. Tuning can be pretty tedious too. For someone that knows what they are doing though, these are the ultimate in ability for getting the car as powerful AND driveable as possible. Can someone learn how to tune, sure even the best had to figure it out at some point.

The cool thing about something like this that lots of people will have, is when someone gets a certain combo dialed in very well they can share their parameters with someone with similar mods. That person can then use these as a starting point and work off of it rather than starting from scratch everytime.

Jayson at MTI used the LS1 edit to do some tuning on my car. The difference between it and DFI is that you can download your stock program and save it for future use. With DFI, you simply plugged in some parameters and it came up with a starting set of fuel and timing curves that were a shot in the dark. I ran DFI for a while on my 1988 351W Mustang and it took forever just to get the car to run smoothly. With the LS1 edit you can make small incremental changes and if you lose performance just reinstall the stock program.
