You need a speed rated tire in order to be safe and legal. The LS1 space saver spares are 16" dia. The LT1 with the smaller brakes are 15"
Does Mickey T make a 16" dia tire? I thought I couldn't find anything on there web site.
Skinnies have ALWAYS been worth 1.5 tenths for me in the 3 f-bodies I have owned. Not only is the weight reduced but the aerodynamic resistance as well. This is ESPECIALLY true for those with 17 inch rims and 275's up front
I would personally just buy the Centerline Skinnies and decent VW tires.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi. I'm a cheap bastage who would rather spend $200 on a set of tires for my ghetto-fabulous space-savers, than spend the $350 it would cost for real front-runners.

You know you're just doing it so that the front rims match the back.(Black and black).
Ok maybe I am missing something here? Are you saying that you are thinking about using your spare tires/wheels on the front? If so that thing weighs a lot. If you want some front runners that don't weigh anything you need to buy some Welds and no they don't make 16" ones for the skinnies but they do have some Prostars 16x8 for the rear if you dont want the 15's for some reason.
Your just jealous because my cars are more ghetto than yours

Oh your car's ghetto alright. And I don't mean in the "rollin' on dubs, bling-blingin'" way either.

Have you weighed your space saver against a draglite or prostar(Harlan's)? IIRC the space-saver is actually pretty heavy.
At any rate, you're going to have a helluva rough time finding 16" tires that skinny that are speed-rated.
I don't know of any tracks that will allow you to run spare tire rims, and why would you want to risk the car for .03th?
On my car, skinnies are worth abot .15 and around 1 mph. I did try the ghetto skinny mod, only to get tossed at the starting line.
The smallest 16" the tire rack has listed is a 195/50/16.
