Default Down Go's Another 12 Bolt

I've been waiting awhile for my local track to open up.Today I get there first thing in the morning. It just so happened to be that I was the second one to run on a freshly resurfaced and prepared track with the sticky stuff. The car in front of me was a ricer running about 16-17 seconds. Now my turn comes up and I launch at 6000rpm's with the juice. The car went sky high and boom bye bye ring /pinion .I only made it about 15 feet.My car had awesome traction, It had pieces of the track in the tire, not the pebbles you pick up from running around.Enough with the story,Is it time to go and get a 9 inch or should I give 12 bolt one more try?Thing is the 3rd time the rear has gone on me.I only have 398rwhp/364rwtq plus a 150 shot of the juice.Keep that in mine with your input.thanks

Are you spooling it or posi? Not that it matters much because your r & p is blowing.

I'm using a Two Step so I don't have to crank it up to 6k to leave hard. But you're sprayin' it out too, which is a whole 'nother ball game.

I guess 9 inch or 8.8?

Maybe a progressive controller; if not a 9" might do better.

What broke? Also, what's been breaking in your 12 bolt? I hear of a lot of people running low 10's on a 12 bolt.

I pulled the rear cover to see what had actually broke a few hours ago.And it looks like the spiders in the posi unit broke and pieces went into my r/p and chipped it in a few spots. As for what else has broke before 1. r/p 2.a 33 spline alxe 3. now a posi unit. I think ill try a spool next on my 12 bolt then if it fails again, hello to new 9 inch!

Yup......the culprit usually is them spider gears, get a spool and be done with it.

Would you consider using a Two Step to launch, and spare some of the driveline shock? What 60 fts. are you cutting?

My best 60' was a 1.52 with a 26" tire. But I run out of gear at the end of the track.I currentally am running a 28" tire. And with that tire my best is a 1.55 60'.My car leaves kind of twisted even with a cage so I bought a extreme duty rear sway bar from bmr hoping that will take care of the twisting problem and lower those 60' times some.

Cool man.

Surely you might have too much TQ, power and tire to run a posi. I may run into this soon if I slap on the TNT in the fall.

A spool doesn't excite me. There's also a locker now for the 12 bolt FWIW...
