Default Setting up a 10 bolt

Getting ready to go through my stock 10 bolt. It has some slight bearing noise and Im going to go freshen it up with all new bearings and seals. What specs is everyone using to set-up the ring pinion back-lash, depth, and freeplay? Just use stock GM specs/tolerances or make it slightly tighter? anyone that has done these before? thanks!!

backlash is usually .008 to .012 , but if you are gonna spray it, i would suggest between .011-.014 . i set mine up @ .007 and broke it, set it up at .010, broke it, set it up at .013, and it has held up to many 1.5x 60 foot time's, many more 1.6x 60 foot times, and a couple 1.4x 60' times. i also used my stock pinion shim. steeting mine up at .013 causes it to whine pretty bad, but it has held up very well

Most rears are tight stock, usually under .010. The stock shim will usually be .028-.032, which is a good starting point. I like a .030 and .010 to start. I dont like to go over .012 for backlash, and some people reccomend that you can go as tight as .005 although I wouldnt reccomend it.

Is there a gear install tutorial somewhere that I could use to install my new gears?
