T56 slip yoke with a lip?

T56 slip yoke with a lip? I have a driveshaft with a spicer T56 slip yoke that has a lip on it before the actual gears start. That lip will not let my yoke go in far enough on the tranny to install my driveshaft on the rearend. What do I need to do?
