Default Driveshaft Problem

Driveshaft Tech Question(2002 SS):
I have a shudder that seems like the driveshaft is out of balance. It only occurs between 50 and 57 mph (and is more noticeable when decelerating). I took it to the dealer and they replaced the coupler near the rear end. It improved it a bit, but the shudder is still there. Should they be replace the forward coupler as well? Is there something else that could be loose that is causing this?

This is a stock car right= rear/driveshaft?
Was it ever in an accident?
They replaced the rear universal, did they check all the mounts?
Is the car a manual or auto?

The car is bone stock, never in an accident.
Yes they replaced the rear universal.
I'm not sure what mounts you are referring to?
It is automatic and I have shifted to neutral in the 50 to 57 mph range and the shudder is still there. I would think this rules out the tranny.
Thanks

Diagnosing vibration can be so difficult. When did you notice this started? Was it gradual, or followed a repair/change to drivetrain?

It could be:

- Tire balance, you threw a weight, or it could be damaged tire cords
- Inspect universals (replace that front one just in case, they're cheap)
- Try flipping the driveshaft over 180 degrees
- Shocks in the rear could be tired
- Make sure all of your rear suspension components are tightened to spec. If you have enough miles on it, you could have tired bushings.

edit: I was going to mention your brake rotors, if they are old, they can begin to warp ever so slightly, and because your brake pads rest on them, it can cause vibration. But in the rear, that would be unusual.

Thats all I can think of.... .. . keep us posted!

Default driveline vibration

auto 02 Camaro SS
Just had both u joints inspected and the driveshaft balanced. The vibration appears when you decelerate into the 55 to 45 mph range and is stronger when in Drive and when the car is warmed up (10 miles on the highway). Vibration lessens quite a bit when put into OD and disappears when you shift into neutral. Seems to me it is coming from tranny or rear end components (something with fluid) because it is not noticeable until car is warmed up and in Drive. Any ideas? Thanks.

If it disappears in neutral then its probably the tranny or stall components. Id check the pilot bearing

I had it in to the GM dealer several times and they finally balanced the
driveshaft from end to end. It is much better but vibration still exists
around 50 mph.
Now what I've actually noticed is it's not really the speed but the RPM's (I
always get the vibration around 2000 rpm).
So in park when I rev up to the 2000 rpm range (1800 to 2400) I notice the
vibration even more. What I suspect is that the rotating assembly is out of
balance but I have not had this confirmed, obviously it would be a major
undertaking to diagnose.

What changes did you make recently to the car?
Did it start after you made these changes?

Have you taken the drive shaft off lately?

Car is still completely stock. Driveshaft was taken off and balanced by the dealer, but something in the engine must be out of balance because it vibrates in park around the 2000 rpm range.
