Default 9 inch setup questions

Ok, im a little in the dark still about how I need to go about setuping up the 9 inch. What exactly will need to be transfered over from my stock rearend, also if you could explain what each looks like (i.e. backing plate ect.)

Second, when I take it to get the bearings pressed in, what parts will I need to bring with me. Do they just press it on the axel with the basking plates or will they need the housing also?

thanks.

The housing should come set up, you need to take your backing plates and axles in. They will put your backing plates on and then press the bearings in, your backing plates are then used as the axle retainers. The backing plates are just simply the plates that all of your braking components bolt to on the stock rear. They are held on by four bolts that are probably pink or yellow in color.

The backing plates I beleive are marked but I do not know for sure. You should really have no problem figureing it out. The axles are the same length so do not worry about that.

Not with the moser 9 inch, there is one axle that is longer than the other by a few inches....Ill have to double check with Billingsley but I believe it is the pass side that is longer.

yeah, pass. side is long, driver is short.
the backing plates have to be put on the correct side and make sure they are facing the right direction, (the e-brake shoes face outward towards the wheel). Then take the axle shafts and plates to a shop to get the bearings pressed on. I took it to a transmission place after calling about 4 other places with no luck, cost me $30

I think you can buy new backing plates so you can keep your old ones but its pretty expensive.

Is it a pain to get the backing plates off the 10 bolt?

Also, since the passenger axle is longer, I take it the center section has the yoke offset to the drivers side correct?
