Yep, but you can't really tell when. Depends on A4 or M6, how hard you launch, slicks, super duper pooper scooper clutch, etc.

You can upgrade to a 12 bolt, Ford 9 inch, Ford 8.8. Check out Strange, Moser, and Currie for new rears.

You will probably be safe until you are running 11's or launching at 6000RPMs

Depends on how hard the car is launched and how hard the driveline "SHOCKS" the rear.

If you have dynoed 450 at the wheels and the car hooks, I would say that you can easily break the 10 bolt. Some live, but not often. M6 is hard on your driveline especially with a good clutch. My car is close to stock and I am looking into it. I may wait till after I put some headers on it though.

You can kill the 10 bolt with some boltons and some drag radials.

Ask me how I know

Doesn't really take much to decimate a 10-bolt. A couple of clutch dumps with a tire that sticks should do the trick, especially with an M6. I learned this the hard way also. The stock aluminum driveshaft is also a weak link. Learned that one too...

I killed 2 gear sets on nittos at the track with only long toobs, exhaust, clutch, and a Lid. I never launched higher than 2500 rpm.

With the 9" I now launch at 6500+ and dead hook with no Ill effects on the rearend.

The cam is a g5x3 from LG motorsports n I like it

I went thru a set of gears....... I am dumping the clutch at 6000 on ET streets on the 10 bolt with 4.10's. It still going strong, only hear a slight whine....... but yeah it'll go out in a couple more hard launches..... 9 inch here I come.........

The housing broke first (after the carrier bearing on that side blew up) which chewed up the ring & pinion.

That was from road racing. It puts a big side load on the carrier bearings and chews them up.

Like someone said before, it can happen whenever.. I have been running drag radials from 3,000 miles on the car with no problems.. I only have raced down the track about 7 times, and about 75 street races. Before my gears were installed last sumer i use to launch on the street at 3,500 with no spin and the rear never took a crap, and that is spraying 1st gear after 3,000rpm's.. good luck,
