Honestly though, if it were me I wouldn't do it if your present rearend setup is quiet. There's a VERY good chance that it won't be after the gear change. Maybe put that money (shouldn't be $950 though!) towards a 12-bolt later down the road.

You can get 3.73s done for about $450 + a hpp (or MMS can do a reprogram for you). Where do you race at, LACR?

It'll definitely help, but as mentioned, there are better places to spend your money. I finally went with the 3.73's because I was running out of mods to do withouth diving into the engine. <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0"> I hope to see what I gained in 60' times this weekend.
As for cost, you might ask for a breakdown on the price! I paid $200 for a set of Genuine GM 3.73's, $220 for the install and fluids, and $100 for a girdle and stud kit. I did go with custom tuning, but I was going to get it anyways for other reasons. So, I just waited until I could do the gear swap and tuning at the same time. Since there's an HPP3 out for your car, you could use that to adjust for the different gears, and you should be able to find one used for around $200 or so.
