Default DIFFY CHOICE: Eaton vs Auburn (Need help quick!)

Well I just blew up my last rear end, what was the original cause, I don't know. But I'm running a YANK ST3500 and was running 3.73 gears. Now I do NOT want this to happen again so I had ordered an Auburn differential with the cone clutches to be sure I wouldn't have any problems with spider gears as the ones in my ( ) stock differential are in tiny little pieces now. After the recent discovery of an Eaton unit at Summit, should I cancel the Auburn!?

Only after ordering the Auburn I noticed the Eaton at Summit and I have a ten percent discount so it would end up costing the same as the Auburn. Which should I go with?? Does anyone have any input? I really didn't want to order an auburn but I am just afraid of breaking units with the gears in them.

Anyone!?!? This is kind of an emergency so if anyone could help out quickly, that'd be great!

How did you break a rearend in an A4 car? Do you have excessive wheelhop? That will surely KILL the stock rearend quickly.

Actually, those worm gears inside the Torsen-Zexel posi are better than the spider gears found in the Auburn type posis. I'd much rather have the Torsen than the Auburn. Not sure on the Eaton, but if it has spider gears I'd avoid it too.

In other words, our rearends just SUCK and there really isn't any good build up for them. Gotta go with the posi that is "less shitty" than the other in this case.

I didnt ask him how either, and we've been looking for the best solution. I suggested he look into the T2 or T2r, and the Eaton HD.

I've got an Auburn now...but I'm not pushing all that much mmmphhh to it.

I'm not buying another 12 bolt...

what about that crush sleeve eliminator deal i heard of awhile back?

I think the pinion walking up the ring--due to the damn crush sleeve not staiying put and in shape, leads to alot of these failures with gears. then comes the spider gears disintegrating...

Yeah I'm not sure at all how it happened Nine ball, I think like 02 Hawk said, either improper gear installation (I had them "professionaly" installed) or a bad set of gears... Motive will be sending me a new set of gears which I'll be selling to at least get some of the money back that it's going to take to fix this.
