Default Hurst shifter problem - any advice welcome

I have an m6 01ss with the factory upgrade Hurst shifter. My problem is that I don't have a good clean shift from 1st to 2nd. When shifting to 2nd I hit a pre-notch or something. I'm in 1st, begin shift, shift thru neutral space, hit pre-notch (unwelcome resistance), then correctly hit 2nd. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd is nice, clean, and firm, no issues. The problem is consistent during normal everyday driving. Temperature, rpm range, phase of the moon, etc. don't appear to be a factor. I now have 12k miles on the car, about to switch to redline gear oil. Are there any adjustments on the factory Hurst that may help eliminate the pre-notch. Could the skip-shift system be involved somehow? (mine is eliminated) Is it best just to replace the shifter with something better, b&m, pro5? The car is under warranty, but returning to the dealer is my last choice.

Sometimes if I don't pull my Pro 5.0 all the way over to the left side, I'll hit the gate too when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Sounds like to me the spring may still be strong (which is good!) and pull the stick over just a hair as you shift. Also does it still do this if you take the clutch all the way to the floor for the 1st to 2nd shift?

I assume you still have the factory clutch? I had this problem with my Cartek until I adjusted it (wasn't disengaging fully).

I have an '01 M6 SS as well, and you'll quickly learn this is how our factory T56s are.

I go through a "pre-notch" on every shift. It can get especially bad going into 3rd gear sometimes depending on how hard I'm pushing it. It did it to me on the stock clutch and its the exact same on my SPEC III clutch as well.

I think there are a few things you can do to lessen this "pre-notch" condition although I'm not quite sure what they are.

I swithched my factory Hurst out for a Ripper and was all the difference in the world, now I have the new 145 slave and Mcleod adj. m/c waiting to go in as soon as I go pickup a Z06 clutch to install at the same time. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />
