Hurst shifter problem - any advice welcome
I have an m6 01ss with the factory upgrade Hurst shifter. My problem is that I don't have a good clean shift from 1st to 2nd. When shifting to 2nd I hit a pre-notch or something. I'm in 1st, begin shift, shift thru neutral space, hit pre-notch (unwelcome resistance), then correctly hit 2nd. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd is nice, clean, and firm, no issues. The problem is consistent during normal everyday driving. Temperature, rpm range, phase of the moon, etc. don't appear to be a factor. I now have 12k miles on the car, about to switch to redline gear oil. Are there any adjustments on the factory Hurst that may help eliminate the pre-notch. Could the skip-shift system be involved somehow? (mine is eliminated) Is it best just to replace the shifter with something better, b&m, pro5? The car is under warranty, but returning to the dealer is my last choice.
