Trouble powershifting into 2nd I have a 2001 WS6 with 3,000 miles on it. Just bought it Yesterday. I was trying it out this evening. From 1st I let it go up to about 6,000 rpms then tried to powershift into 2nd and it wouldn't let me go into to 2nd and it hit the rev limitor. Tried it again and it did the same thing. If I let off the gas it would then let me into 2nd. Is this normal? Does it not let you powershift?
Re: Trouble powershifting into 2nd I wouldnt powershift these cars with their stock pos shifter for starters but more than likely its your shifting technique. I couldnt accurately describe to you the proper method but I know there are others here that could so heres a, TTT for ya.

Re: Trouble powershifting into 2nd I would immediately get another shifter into the car such as a Pro 5.0 or a a Ripper. If that does not help, then you might need to look at the clutch release. Another possibility could be that the torque arm is allowing your tranny to twist over a lot on hard acceleration which is causing you to miss the shift gate.

Re: Trouble powershifting into 2nd How do you rev to 6k jab at the clutch and not hit the rev limitor ? I shift at 5800 or so going from 1st to second, 2nd to 3rd can usually be done at 6000k, the clutch smells real good after a few powershifts !!!
Re: Trouble powershifting into 2nd i have a stock shifter, and a stock drivetrain, but i can rev to 6k, powershift, and not hit the rev limiter, all it takes is practice. after a few tries, you will master it. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />
Re: Trouble powershifting into 2nd Don't feel too bad, I can't powershift mine either. Really pees me off, I've always been able to do it on every manual I've had. After a few flubbed shifts I gave up on it untill I change out my clutch and hydralics. <img src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" border="0"> Would really like to have that .10 to .15 tenths it would give me. <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0">

Re: Trouble powershifting into 2nd Well if you've practiced and can do it without hitting the limitor than I don't understand you're question, if you can't get it to go into second while powershifting than you need more practice !!!

You might want to try and bleed the hyd. system to see if there is any air in it.
