When you decided it was time to start looking for a transmission, what were some of the Pro's/Con's on:
Built 4L60E (FLP, Yank, Local Shop, etc.)
TH400/TH350 ?????
It seems that the TH400 is a lot cheaper then a lot of the built 4L60E's, but you lose that "driveablity" of a computer controlled transmission. Can a 4L60E be built strong enough to last? Or is a TH400 the best way to go in the longrun?
PSJ, I'm interested in what you have to say, because you've got a monster of an engine with a built FLP transmission. How has it been for you? How long to you honestly expect it to last? How long till it needs to be "freshened up"?

I installed a trans temp gauge about 2 weeks ago. Trans is stock with the exception PPIII (shift points and 100% firmness). I have observed in very cold weather, trans runs around 135 degs for a very long time until you get on the highway or lots of stop and go traffic where it can go to 150- 165 degs. In warmer weather, (50 on up) it will get as high as 180 degs blipping throttle in stop and go, 165 on the highway. I have a BIG cooler that I have yet to install because I just don't by the "too cool" responses I have heard from a lot of post on the net. Auto tranmissions aren't supposed to run near 200 deg temps. Heat does kill very quickly (I burnt up a Mopar 727 Torqueflite to the point fluid looked like oil and smelled like black liquoric left on the stove!!!!) <img src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" border="0" alt="[barf]" /> Just some FYI.
