Default What's the advantage of 315 Nittos vs. 275's

Is there an advantage to me going with 11" rims on the back of my SS with 315 Nitto DR's or do the 275 Nitto DR's hook nearly as good at the track and on the street ??

I imagine the 315's would launch a bit better but does the added rolling resistance and weight diminish the returns from a slightly improved launch ??

When answering, keep in mind that I am far from done with the mods I will be adding to my SS.

thanks guys,
Mitch R.

Actually it's been my experience that the larger the tire size say a 315/35 nitto versus a 245/50 nitto the 245/50 has a much bigger sidewall that provides some flex and hooks better....a 315/35 has very little sidewall and in my opinion would not hook as well with no flex in the sidewall. Look at any set of drag slicks and see how much sidewall area they have and how it flexes when the car hooks and you'll know what I mean

Ummm, they look BITCH'n

I've cut a 1.63 60ft on them.

BTW: The next pass on little (26x10.5-15) ET streets/skinnies I cut a 1.54

I bought mine for street use only, I have my ET Streets for the track. I LOVE the 315's on the back of these cars, they look AWESOME!

Yeah, i'm with John on this one. They look sooooo bad ***!

The 315s will hook better than the 275s, and I doubt you would loose that much in MPH. To me, its worth it just looking that much better.

Got the 315s, looks totally awesome from the rear!
As for hooking up, broke my 10 bolt with em!

Thanks guys, the bitch'n look was one of the important reasons I wanted the 315's. I'm sure they will hook phenominal. I would use them for street and occassional track, I just really hope that they don;t break my gears for at least a year or so until I can afford a Strange 12 Bolt

Looks like I'll be ordering a set of new rims in the next couple months then.

Don't know much about them there 275s!
I do do know that 245s short times were 2.23!
Now with 315s short times are consistent 1.9x!
I drive to and from track over 180 miles both ways on them and 145 m.p.h. in the rain with them no problem!
