Tranny Removal
Unbolt torque converter from flex plate, remove trans cross member (put jack under trans to let down slowly)....remove torque arm mount(bolt on top too ie hidden)/exhuast hanger.... Unplug speedo conector on tail housing, unplug trans connector on passenger side of trans.....Un bolt shifter cable from trans shifter shaft and unbolt trans shifter cable bracket from trans pan (two bolts).
Get really long extentions ready......24 to 36 inches.......total.... and a 9/16 swivel head socket.
Now fish the extention up from the back of the trans up to the bolts that hold the trans to the back of the block, there are six. When you get those out ......look out cause its out.......a helper or trans jack will come in handy ....
Get the car up high btw.......and ofcourse remove the dust cover (10 mm bolts) and throw it away....
I may be forgeting a couple things (drive shaft) ( I leave it in so oil doesn t leak out) I do unbolt it and remove it from the rear but leave it in the trans until the trans is oul and on the ground cause.....
ATF is one of my most hated things to take a bath in anyways......
The conveter comes out with the trans.....then you pull it off......and lay it flat or it will spill oil too......
