Genuine GM gear question?
Genuine GM gear question? I am looking to do the 4.10 swap real soon. Most people seem to recommend going with the genuine GM gears, they seem to be the quietest and strongest possible (in a 10-bolt rear <img src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> .) I started to shop around for prices but ran across both Motive "genuine GM gears" and Superior "genuine GM gears." Now what is the difference? Is one stronger or better than the other? Are they the same? Also I have the Auburn rear option, should I spend the money on a T/A girdle or not? I know SLP says it is not required for the Auburns but does anyone think it would still be a good idea?

Re: Genuine GM gear question? Do NOT go with the Motives I made that mistake. <img src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" border="0"> The Superior are better at least. I have installed some Superiors with great results. Dead silent operation.

I beg to differ.....it's because you luckily got a good set. When I called them about mine being noisey and told them how the install went they told me to send them back, saying that is wasn't uncommon for a bad set to go out it had happened before. Just seems funny that I have installed gears in Dana's of all sizes, almost every model GM using all different ratios and 6 different gear maufacturers. The only set that has ever whined are the 1 set of Motives I put in my car. Should have gone with the Superiors I put in a friends Camaro they are dead silent. Or the Precisions I put in another friends Camaro, (both the 7.5") they are dead silent. Even the Richmonds in my truck aren't noisey!
