DAM, look at all that metal! I would definetly demand that Moser warranty their work. They are liable for any part that fails expecially tubes comming out from the center.

How much HP does the car put to the wheels? Anything less than 600 and I would try to get my money back!

I'm not even gonna waste my time reading this ****.. The reason it keeps breaking is because MOSER made the piece of ****. And why in the hell would you put NINE sets of gears in the same housing when they just keep breaking over and over..

BUY A 9in!!! You could have bought one already with all the money you have wasted on gear sets and installs... Call MOSER and tell them whats going on and bitch them out!!

EDIT: I went back and read that you arent actually breaking all those gear sets.. Just getting noisy as hell. That is a very common thing with 12-Bolts and especially the Moser units. Gomer has the same problem with his..

I had a KTRE 12 bolt, and kept breaking ring and pinions. I then purchased a set of used original GM gears off of ebay (3.31 ratio), and did not have a problem with it afterwords (other than some slight noise). Ran in the 9's about 15 times and she held up fine. Not sure if the original GM gears are just stronger, or if it's because they have had thousands of miles of break-in time and heat cycles.

I did however still sell it and bought a Currie 9in, which I modified for 3 channel abs, in the hopes that it will not make any noise. (fingers crossed)

My moser was used for 8k before I got it and was quieter then my 10 bolt w/4.10's.It stayed quiet untill I installed M/T DR's and wheelhopped a few passes. It got BAD loud after that, just screamed on decel and clunked its way to a stop.I lived with it until I broke into the 11's in street trim then installed a new gearset/bearings and 1350 yolk. The old yolk was bent but the gears looked perfect.I'm waiting out the hot summer until fall comes to 1/4 mile it.It most likely will get noisey again.

z-ya:
You can buy a flying magnet type ring/sensor setup from chassis places like Bickel, Applied Racing, Quartermax, etc. that mounts to your pinion yoke. It's basically like a crank trigger except smaller. Guys use it for monitoring driveshaft speed with their data loggers. You just need to have someone figure out how to convert the electronics. It can't be hard though, both sensors work on the same principle. Just the number of teeth/triggers is different.

if u r stamping the bearing races nobody i no of has a cure for that. we had to put a 9 inch in our 6 speed to try and shut it up. but the 9 inch kills so much hp and tq. but that was what we had to do to quiet it down. but now we have a strange 12 bolt and we r gonna c if it makes a diff. IMO strange is one of the few 12 bolts ill buy. moser for some reason has gone down hill quick.

Well I can do the math and make a reluctor wheel for the yolk, then its just a matter
of mounting the stock sensor. Now for the 2300 on the 9"? I may have that much in scrap ring and pinions.

I'm wondering if I got the only Moser 12 bolt that was "right." Mine has been in the car since 2002, never touched the gear setup as-delivered from Moser and its still silent. I've only put maybe 50 or so passes on it, but at least 30k harsh street miles. I've broken two torque arms and sheared off the torque arm bracket bolts once, but the rear end is still fine. Car weighs in at 3720 and runs only in the mid 11's with a 6 speed though.

So after seeing this does this mean i should go with a 9 bolt instead of 12? If your breaking the 12 with only a cam and gear?

I've shot 680 hp through mine on nitrous, slicks, and leaving at 5,000rpm in my LT1 car. It has gotten noisy which was tough to live with at first. But its only under lite power, and decel.

But when I'm knee deep in the throttle and banging gears it was quiet which is most important. I bought mine back in Sept. 01.

I now have transplanted it to my 99 Formula which only runs 7.60's in the 1/8th with 1.63 60ft's. its pretty stock except for suspension
The problem that I did just have finally is my clutches in my EATON HD800 posi unit just failed. So I have it apart right now and the R&P look fine but now I have to rebuild the posi.

I'm thinking of swapping over to a DETROIT TRU-TRAC right now and putting a new R&P in it.
