Default Cannot keep this 12 bolt alive

Well ring and pinion #9 a fresh set of 430 us gears lasted all of 2 launches.
this is really starting to irritate me.They were nice and quiet on breakin,
and had a perfect pattern on set up.No one in this town of 3.2 million
has been able to make this rear stand up to the launch on this bolt on car.
WE put a straight bar through the housing and verified that it was straight
this time also.I give up!This was the ninth ring and pinion in 13 thousand miles.Solid spacer perfect patern proper backlash 2 launches KABOOM!
does anyone have an idea what is wrong I am desperate.

Is it actually BREAKING something or just getting noisy. If it's breaking stuff, maybe you need to look at other things too like the pinion angle, suspension, etc.

I feel your pain but only partially. Went thru 3 setups on mine until I sold it. Glad it's gone. I'll never fu*k with another 12 bolt.

Just gets so noisy that you can't stand it.When you pull it down to inspect it it looks
perfect yet. Much more noise on coast and decel than load . It's got all
the gear guru's around here baffled as to why a 340 hp car can kill this rear
so easy.I really wanted to keep the 3 channel abs so thats why the 12 bolt is in there.Selling the car is starting to sound like an option.

I don't follow. You're not breaking anything it just gets noisy?

Yes so loud you can't stand it.Horible gear gnashing on coast and decel, slight howl on load.Several gear vendors used with the same result,us gear, motive, richmond.Every
dimention that we can think of has been checked ,carrier runout is les than .001.It's
quiet as a mouse duriing breakin, fail on the first few launches. The car hooks well
and weighs 3750 with me in it so that is a factor. Some think I am bending the pinion
teeth causing this,I don't know about that.

Pretty much the same in my case(s). Except that it took more than 2 launches. It would get slightly louder each pass. After maybe 30-40 passes though it would be completely unbearable to drive on the street. Setup was perfect each time, solid spacer, etc., etc.

Heavy car + manual tranny = BAD. What kind of 60' times are you hitting?

Maybe you need a Pro gear. But no more driving on the street then.

Ditch the ABS for now and get a 9". Eventually someone will come up with a way to hook the ABS back up.

Ya I know the combo is bad but I've got so much in it now I'm married to it.Car only
pulls 1.7 60's.I'll go 200r4 tranny before 9 inch.Heads and cam and the bottle waiting
to go on if I can ever solve this issue.

can you just unplug the axle speed sensor in the rear end housing on an automatic car? or would shift points and drievability be affected?

Are you taking it to the same shop to get setup each time? What brand 12 bolt is this?

What kind of differential? I know mine got real noisy (unbearably so), then I blew not only the ring & pinion, but also the spider gears in the Eaton. I'm switching to a locker, and I only have 390 rwhp or so. I'm also full weight, so I'm thinking doing some weight reduction will help the drivetrain components live longer.

Regardless, I know the 4.10+ series gears are gonna be noisy in a 12 bolt... that's why most who race AND want to keep a quiet set of gears step down to 3.90 or lower. Just make up for the loss in gearing with nitrous or some other increase in HP.

I'm not talking about a little noisy here, and the diff gets inspected every time its apart.
If you read the original post its sets up quiet to start then fails.I've used 3 different
installers all well qualified and eaqually baffeled.Has anyone cyrogenecly treated a set
of 8620 gears to see if that will toughen them up?

With the money you have in 9" gear sets you could have had a sensor fabricated that would make the 3 chanel ABS system work on a 9". Just 9" it!

I am a cam only car, I have been to the track 2 times on my Moser 12 bolt and have broken it 2 times. First time I broke a 4.10 ring gear. Then when got my 4.30 gears in it went 4 passes and then broke every tooth on the ring and pinion and broke the tube away from the housing....

Moser wouldn't do anything about that, so I would stay as far away from Moser as I could....
