was that english? what are you talking about with the posi thing? The Torsen's are stronger (not a clutch-type posi), but M6's will break any and all of your rear end parts given the right motivation. uh...and i dont know what you were saying there, but the 35th is NO different than any other F-Body mechanically.

You might have a little better luck posting this in drivetrain.

Did I miss something? When did Torsen become a bad word? You have to pay extra for the Auburn unit and no matter which you have, the 10 bolt rear in your car is still weak so either way when you add more power you'll eventually break it and end up with a 12 bolt or 9" anyhow, so dont' sweat it.

thanks for the input. I haven't opened up to see what i got but my tires do not rotate the same direction like clutch-type limited slips that i'm use to.(car on lift, spinning tire by hand) Don't know about torsen, sorry about the bashing. Have a eaton in my GM p/u. Just wanted limited slip and IT didn't come with it SSo I'll just have to do it right the 1st time with rear swap Again thanks for the input

What the F**K are you talking about? You dont have a spool so you're obviously not going to be able to have both tires spining the same direction while up on the lift. Maybe Im dumb but thats the only way ive ever seen it work in this type of rear/application. Perhaps you should read up on the F-Body and limited slips. Let me ask you this...when you spin the tires (dead stop, stomp gas pedal), do you get two tire marks? Ok then, you have a limited slip. It plenty strong for a mostly stock car with drag radials or street radials. If you plan on launching hard on good tires, you better get a 12-bolt or 9". Then you can have a magical Eaton like in your truck. Sorry, but whoever you're getting your info from doesnt know what he/she's talking about. its not like you have an open differential. whats the real problem here? oh, in case you need some more clarification on the posi deal, here:

if you dont see this, and see just ONE line. You got either got the RAREST 35TH EVER (open diff.) or you got TOTALLY SCREWED and they gave you a V6.

Merry Christmas.

clutch type limited slips like Auborn or eaton is the only posi that I've worked with. When I turn the tires 1 way the other goes in the same direction. ( car in the air ) I just asked a question. sorry. I've owned 69 427/4spd W/12 bolt and put a clutch type in a 80 model. pulled the 267 out and put in a 400. (sleeper) Just wanting to know whats up. Thanks

I would rather have the Torsen rear end. I'v heard its stronger than the Auburn. They are both limited slip rear ends, meaning you will spin both tires when you floor it. With the torsen, if you break it, you cant drive it. With the auburn, you can drive it, but it will act like an open, one wheel wonder rear end.

A clutch type posi (like the Auburn) will work better if you lose traction on one wheel, otherwise there is no real performance difference.

Ryan, with the Auburn (which, btw, is an added cost option on some models where as the Torsen is an added cost option on others) you will turn both tires the same direction by turning one when they are off the ground. This is how clutch type limited slips work, as well as spools. With the Torsen they will turn different directions like open rearends do.

Which had I rather have? I've had both and I would much rather have the Torsen.

Dunno man. Sound like your posi-unit might be shot. Put one tire on wet grass (your neighbor's yard will be fine for this experiment ), the other on pavement. Nail it. Did they both spin? Then you're fine. If not, that explains it.

I just know my Z28 came with a Torsen and my SS came with an Auburn. I also put a complete stock rearend with an Auburn in my Z28 once (that didn't last long!)

What year and model is your car?

GEEZ! I love this place I was just surfing thru the room and decided to take a peek at this post! Low and behold more free knowledge! Thanx Colonel! I just had the Krusher on the lift the other day installing the panhard bar and I noticed one wheel spun one way and the other spun the oppisite way! Needless to say I was a bit concerned and confused about this! Not now though.
