Little off topic but I was told, on several occasions, not to drop a dime into a 10 bolt. Save for at least a 12 bolt.

What is he putting in the 10 bolt anyways?

I have costom solid spacers that I had made up out of 4130 steel. A few local guys have gone 11's with my set up's and I have set them up so the only thing left to break in the differential or an axleshaft. 3.23, Auburn, bearing kit, stud kit, TA cover, solid spacer (my own), and just the usual assembly.

Scott the work looks nice, Only concern I would have is that it looks like you are using a stock housing and stock pinion support. How can you be sure that it will hold up to high horsepower?

I'm not going to say that getting a better driveshaft is a bad idea but I do know theres alot of people running stock shafts and doing ok with it. I have seen the damage a driveshaft can cause but I think defining what shaft is right and wrong is really dependent on the application. Again I think upgrading your driveshaft is not a bad thing I just think that alot it might be overkill for some people.

Oh and by the way when I ordered my rear from Scott@DLS the first thing he did was talk to me about a shaft so he is definately aware of what could happen and he is looking out for the best interests of his customer. I would highly reccomend him to anyone looking for any drivetrain product.

you need to read more, if you did you would see that the only reason that i and other people would use the stock driveshaft is to be able to put the rear in now and save up to get a new driveshaft. There is NO way in hell i am going to put a slick on the car, dump at 4k+ and keep the stock driveshaft, scott would not ever recommend that to anyone. now the way i am now, im running street tires, and have ran my car at the track many times on the stock driveshaft, there are many people who would want to install this rear on a stock driveshaft, i could not come up with the extra $400 for a strong ds and my stock rear end was dieing. just because someone gives an option to use your stock components does no way whatsoever mean they recommend you do this, he has told me many times to get a new driveshaft when i can afford it.

I have a fellow racer that runs an 86 TA (3200 lbs.) with a totally stock casting and the car goes 9.80's all day long off of a trans brake. I have personally gone 10.20's in my 3320 lbs Z on a stock casting. I have dirk track racers with 700+ HP engines that run stock castings with 6.00 - 6.50 gears and they all hold up very well. So my opinion is that a 500-600 hp LS1 car will live for a long time, and I have a few that have been running them for over 4 years without a single issue.

P.S. Matt Bancroft went 9.40 N.A. in his liberty shifted F-body 2 years ago, and when I reduilt his 9" I was amazed that nothing broke. The person who built it for him didn't even set it up right to begin with.
