In simple terms what is LOOSE in a TC!!!!

Default In simple terms what is LOOSE in a TC!!!!

OK I know a little about this. I have a yank TT 3000 str 3.0. When I got it the only thing I noticed was a little more gas pedal travel. Is that what is concidered LOOSE? I am currently thinking of upgrading to a larger TC Say a TP4400 with 3.73s. can someone give me an idea on HOW to compare the two? I REALLY like my TT now doesn't seem loose at all. Basically what is LOOSE? I also heard that more gear will make the TC feel tighter? so? for STREET use Would a TP 4400 with 4.10s BE ideal? or to much? Ideas ?

There is a big difference between the 2 converters mentioned in terms of looseness. <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0"> You're talking about an increase of 1400 rpms worth of stall. You have a very street friendly converter with its low stall and high STR. I would suggest riding in someones car with the converter in mind before making a decision cuz the 2 converters are like night and day.

Yup that's looseness.

YTP 4400 & 3.73s will use 2400 - 2800 for typical in-town driving. 1800 - 2200 if you are creeping slowly through your neighborhood, 3300 - 3500 for leaving most everyone in the dust.

My guess is that now much of your in-town driving is at 1800 - 2400 and that you rarely go above 2600 when driving normally.

To answer your question, I would upgrade to a ST3500 and keep your 3.23s. If it seems loose, then add 3.73s. Alternatively, since your car rarely sees the track, a SY3500 and 3.73s makes a great street combo. Only a hair looser than what you have and it is a very good stoplight & highway racing combo up to 120 mph.

4.10s & YTP 4400 will be hard to hook and the highway rpms can get tiring.
