banging in rear end i installed an slp y-pipe. i now have a tremendous banging noise under hard acceleration shifting from 1st to 2nd. the difference in performance is amazing. i dont think it is the exhaust system as there seems to be plenty of clearance. someone suggested replacing the trans mount with an energy suspension one as i might be getting a lot of flex in the driveline with the added hp.? i wanted to get some more input. <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">

Re: banging in rear end I would bet that either the Y-pipe is banging under the drivers side seat or if you have a cut-out installed, the cut-out flange is now hitting the floor panel.If it is the rear and you do have a cut-out, just smash in that small area to give some clearance. If it is the front drivers area, you can usually loosen all the bolts connecting the exhaust system, pry down the drivers side and use a jack to push up on the pass. side and then retighten everything while the y-pipe is bound in that position. If that doesn't work, you can wrap the identified area with some header wrap to pad the impact or have a muffler shop install a brace on the y-pipe. Good luck.
