anyone fab'ed custom sfc?

anyone fab'ed custom sfc? has anyone out there fabricated their own sfc? i have never seen a car with them installed, but from the pics, it doesn't look like they would be that hard to fab. anyone know what kinda wall thickness they are using?

Re: anyone fab'ed custom sfc? Depends on company. Mounts are different from one company to the next, but obviously they all mount in the same area. Hotchkis uses 1-1/2x2" rect. tubing, BMR uses 2x2" square tubing. Those are for the boxed ones not tubular ones. Wall thickness is in the area of .125. I'm in the process of making a set for my car right now. Tubing is real cheap, its making the mounting pads that can get expensive. If you have everything you need equipment wise you should have no problem.

Re: anyone fab'ed custom sfc? I have .25" wall 2x2 tubing welded all the way down the pinch weld and along every point that it touches the floor pan. It is notched to fit the outside of the front subframe instead of the inside(where all others mount) at this time, but I will end up triangulating it later for even more strength. At the rear there is about a 6" piece of tubing between the control arm mounting point and the rear subframe welded fully along both sides and a piece of .25" plate tying the tubing together. Everything came out to 45 pounds when I weighed it before welding it into the car. There is definitely no flex, or rattles for that matter, and it is a very clean install b/c the 2x2 tubing fits flush with the pinch weld.
