It depends on what you break. But really once you break the 10 bolt there is no reason to fix it. You have already proven you are making more power than it can handle.JMHO

but stock power is more than it can handle...lol

I'm just curious cause I don't have 2k to drop ona new rear... I don't drag race my car or anything,b ut I was planning on it...with stock tires and not launching, but I jsut wanted to knwo worst case scenario how much it would cost to fix the stock one. I think my first rear mod will be saving up for a moser 12 bolt with 4.10 or 4.11s in it though, but that'll be a whiel till i can afford that. right now I only have a catback and a lid.

If anything breaks in the rear it would probrably be best just to go pick one up for $200 in a junk yard. Just about anything can happen with these rears, from broken gears and posis, to broken axles and carriers, and leaky pinion seals that don't get caught. Then again, some hold up really well.

you can build the 10 bolt up and it hold good power but never like a ford 9" or gm 12 bolt

mine held up on the street for quite sometime w/ nitto's, but the 2nd time I launched at the track kinda hard, it let go and snapped the driverside axle. Granted I never hooked once on the street. So w/ about 6 passes on my car total, starting from 2000 rpm lauches and working my way to 3500, it let go at 3500 only.

I would like to know what u could put in a 10bolt to make it hold together. I distroyed 2 posi's, 2 sets of gears, 1 axel, and all of the bearings at least 3 times. And i had the rear cover and the stud kit. The only reason i had it rebuilt so many times is i had the hook up on parts and labor.

10bolts are worthless if you plan on race. There is nothing you can do to keep them from coming apart.

P.S. When i was gernading my rear end i was in an A4. Just thing what i could have done to it if i had a m6 in the car like i do now.

i have always run a stock rear. I killed one auburn and one torsen posi by wheelhopping during my burnout. Now i just make sure they have plenty of water in the waterbox. Slicks don't seem to try and wheelhop during burnout as much as the MT DRs did. I cut mid 1.5s on DRs and mid 1.5s on slicks. I do have a rearend cover but thats it. My car is an A4 so i think that really helps plus NO wheelhop. Any vid you ever see of my car will be on a stock rear and its a heavy sucker too. Up to 3855# raceweight and 3950# on the street.
