Default Ratech Deluxe gear install kits

I am about to go into my rearend and I am going to replace everything and I want some feedback on the Ratech Deluxe gear installation kits. Are they good Bad or what? I want to make sure that I get a quailty kit and won't have to go back inside for a while. My uncle whom is a mechanic said I need to be sure to get a kit of good quailty or I will have problems soon. Just any feedback would be great.

Yeah, their stuff is great ! I haven't looked at the Master install kit, but make sure it includes a solid pinion spacer and their new heavy duty pinion shims - that way you can set the pinion depth without having to repeatedly press the pinion bearing on and off or buying and machining a new bearing for a slip fit.

You can't replace the pinion shims without removing the bearing. However what you can do, particularly when installing a new ring and pinion, is put the bearing on the pinion without any shim. Then, the proper depth is achieved by placing the proper thickness shim behind the bearing race in the housing. This is much easier to adjust, as all you need to do is tap in the race, install pinion (without shim), measure depth, take out pinion and tap race out, install proper thickness shim behind the race, tap race into housing, and done.

If you want, you can even install the pinion bearing with the boiling water method.

Was my explanation clear ?

Clear.
I was thinking that remove the pinion bearing was easier than remove the race.
Of course you need a bearing puller and a press.
But I'v never done this job so I don't know for sure.
